For all I know it might take them another 10 revisions before they get it right, and I don't have the time. I can quite understand why they have a forum devoted to their drivers. Whereas Edirol, M-Audio, RME, MOTU don't need them--they seem to get it right the first time, at least most of the time. There are definite advantages in buying a product from a company that has an established history. In the case of CME, I assume they are simply having 'growing pains' in their transition to being a 'retail company': -- they originally started out as a supplier of keyboard mechanisms to other music manufacturers (I assume this is still part of their business, similar to Fatar) -- they branched out into selling retail products in China -- they are now going international As an OEM supplier, they just had to figure out how to do one thing -- build a keybed. With their UF products, they now have to be like Korg/Yamaha/Roland, etc.

I had a CME UF6 keyboard for a short time, and I made the mistake of installing the USB driver on my Mac. It caused a problem when I used Logic Pro 7, where a certain note would not sound when I was using software synths in Logic. It seems that the CME driver corrupted Core MIDI in OSX somehow, and I had to do a complete re-install of OS X to fix the problem. I'm using an E-mu X-Board 49 now via USB with no problems at all. I'll never buy a CME product again.

I also had to do a clean install after the CME driver killed my 'puter, and it was a miserable experience, but after setting it up with a reliable MIDI interface I am very happy with it.
Amazing quality for very little money. Besides the wonderful feel of the keybed, the aftertouch is superb, it's built like a tank, and it even has a breath controller jack! Originally posted by Ed A. Try the keybed on the E-mu X-Board. It is at least as good as the CME action and it also has aftertouch like the CME. Unlike the CME, the X-Board's aftertouch will work on USB bus power, the CME requires a wall wart if you want to use AT.
I got my X-Board from here: I love E-mu, having owned the original Emulator and now a wonderful command station, but (not having played it yet) I kinda doubt their new keybed is quite as good as CME's, unless they have drastically improved them over their old line (PK-6, XK-6, etc.) Also, their aftertouch was 'off-on' and therefore unusable for expressive purposes such as vibrato, and again I kinda doubt they've improved it all that much, but next time I have a chance I'll check one out.
