Best Answer: there is 3 different answer here I was in vista when i restartet Steam and got the game activated. Upon running it I got the 'game not available message'. Booted XP instead and I got further.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was known to be in development after a legal dispute between Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella and Activision resulted in the pair being fired from the company.
Now i have the 'Couldn't load fileSysCheck.cfg. Make sure Call of Duty is run from the correct folder.' I did try to create a dummy file with the name in the 'main' folder. And then another file that it asked for but did not help. Renamed the call of duty 4 folder.
Steam-> 'delete local content' and then download it again. Then paused it and copied ALL files besides the files in the 'main' folder (i copied the video folder below). I discovered that it is now downloading some files I DID NOT HAVE! These where the ONLY files in the main folder: localized_english_iw00.iwd localized_english_iw01.iwd localized_english_iw02.iwd localized_english_iw03.iwd localized_english_iw04.iwd localized_english_iw05.iwd localized_english_iw06.iwd now it is downloading: iw_00.iwd iw_01.iwd iw_02.iwd iw_03.iwd So obviously files didnt get downloaded.
The iw_**.iwd files are the main game files. The localized_*.iwd are just WAV files (voices).
Can anyone verify the content of the ' main' folder please? Start run-> cmd Then DIR /B >dumpfile.txt then copy the dumpfile.txt contents here. Should be a list of all the files and folders. 'fileSysCheck.cfg' is in the iw_00.iwd file together with configure.cfg and configure_mp.cfg or In steam right mouse click on COD4, select properties, select local files tab, click on 'verify integrity of game cache.' Kick off a second round of updates for me. (went to 70% and ticking up) or fileSysCheck.cfg resides in the 'raw' folder of the Mod Tools.
If you do not have a copy of it, open your Mod Tool download again, and check the 'raw' folder in there, and grab it. Manually place it in the 'raw' folder of your COD4 install: [COD4 Intall]/raw/fileSysCheck.cfg. • Tell us some more • Upload in Progress • Upload failed. Hello all, I just downloaded Cod4X to fix the 'iw3mp.exe has stopped working' error that prevented me from playing multiplayer from a Steam install I made a few days back (naturally the normal solutions didn't work). I told the 1.8 patch to install to C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Call of Duty 4 Sure enough I now have a folder called Underground!nfinity in the COD4 folder, and a folder in there as well-- in short, a folder with the following address: C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Call of Duty 4 UnderGround!nfinity Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.8 Patch [CoD4X] The installer also made a Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare X desktop shortcut. Clicking this leads to the loading screen and then an error saying 'Error during initialization: Couldn't load fileSysCheck.cfg.
Make sure Call of Duty is run from the correct folder.' Now, I checked, and this shortcut does indeed point to the iw3mp.exe inside C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Call of Duty 4 UnderGround!nfinity Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.8 Patch [CoD4X] I tried running it by just opening it from the folder, same problem. Naturally, starting COD4 normally (or through Steam) works for SP and still has the original error for MP (or when I try to switch to multiplayer from the main menu of SP). I would suppose the issue is that I need to transfer some files from my primary COD4 folder to the subfolder, or perhaps the other way around, but frankly I would hope this community would be able to right my sins quickly rather than requiring a bunch of guess and check.
